January Beauty Buys

I couldn't resist picking up a few things for the new year. I blame the shopping fever that's going around. But sharing is caring so let's get to it!

I picked these up at the Chesterfield Beauty Counter in Winchester Business Centre and at MAC and at Megamart

Aveeno Active Naturals Positively Ageless Reconditioning Night Cream

My Olay night cream finished and I cannot find it anywhere. When I finally stopped weeping long enough to properly peruse the night creams I could find, this one caught my eye. My mother loves this brand, and I have always been impressed with its anti-allergen properties. The price was also convincing (under $2,000 JMD).  It promises to reduce the effects of past sun damage, improve skin tone and texture, reduce skin dullness and nourish the skin.

What pushed it over for me is the Natural Shiitake Complex which was formulated from Shiitake Mushrooms. (I think mushrooms are gross but they're supposed to be good for you so why not give it a gamble right?)

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain

I was super in love with the Stain, its staying power and colour pay off. So when I heard that the lip balms were just as good but twice as moisturizing I had to pick one up. This is 030 Smitten. I will be slicking this on for work and daytime wear. 

MAC Mineralized Eyeshadow - Gilt by Association

I fell in love with this maybe two years ago but didn't get a chance to pick it up. It's perfect for a more sultry but glow-y smokey eye. It was on my list when I finally went to the new MAC store in Sovereign.

Artista Blush in Golden Sunset

I wanted a very orange powder blush (I currently have a cream blush) and this fit the bill perfectly. It was also super affordable for under $500 and I loved the colour pay off. It was blendable enough but not sheer. Every woman of colour should own orange blush btw.

MAC Mineralized Skin Finish in Gold Deposit

MSFs are MAC's secret weapon in my view and my aim is to own each and every single one. This one is perfect as highlighter, great to mix with blushes or eyeshadows, can be used as a base for too dark bronzer and can be added to finishing powder for a candlelit look. I am super happy with this purchase.

Maybelline Mega Plush Volume Express Mascara

My Maybelline BIG mascara isn't finished but I wanted something that would do a better job at fanning out my lashes rather than just lengthening it. This had great reviews and the idea that my lashes would feel soft appealed to me. I may do a side by side review of these in a few weeks.
