Paint By Numbers Makeup

Anyone remember doing paint by numbers or colour by numbers as a a child? That was seriously one of my favourite thing to do.

Makeup can be beautiful but it can also look so so so bad. Case in point:

But what people don't realize that applying makeup can be as easy as paint by numbers. You just need to follow two rules:

1. apply with a light hand and then build up
2. blend

But on to the paint-by-numbers:

Your face can be divided into ten sections  which I will illustrate below-

  1. Left Lid
  2. Left Crease
  3. Left Outer corner
  4. Right Lid
  5. Right Crease
  6. Right Outer Corner
  7. Left cheek (bone)
  8. Right cheek (bone)
  9. Upper lip
  10. Lower lip

Items 1-6
Powder eyeshadow will be your best friend. An eyeshadow palette that has at least three colours in varying shades is the best/easiest option. The darkest colour goes on the outer corner; the medium colour goes in the crease and the lightest colour goes on the lid. Easy right? And the best thing is that your best tools for makeup are your fingers. Just make sure to wash properly before you apply and have a baby wipe nearby to quickly wipe off your fingers as you move from colour to colour.

Items 7-8
If you're using your fingers, cream blush is your best bet. If you have a blush brush then powder blush is best. One colour that fits all skin tones is a peach-toned blush. So grab some now!

Items 9-10
If your lips are the same colour then go ahead and treat both items as one. If they are not however you are going to want to pay attention. You can even out the colour of your lips by applying an extra layer on your bottom lip or use a slightly darker colour on your bottom lip than your top lip.

Try it out at home, and see how simple it is. The safest way to go is to try neutral colours (think earth tones) and then to work your way up to some darker and brighter colours.
Easy-peasy!
