Review - MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural

Whoever invented MAC MSF Natural is a genius and I am quite frankly confused as to why I did not hear about this until recently. I've had this product since August and I can now declare that this is love.

The MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural is a multi-use product with an excellent silky finish that stays put and does not break you out. I am HUGE fan and I will go as far as saying that if you don't have this product go out and get it pronto. But, I digress shall we proceed?

Packaging
This is a standard MAC product so it comes in standard packaging with a transparent cover, in a large black pot. It has a push lever rather than the snap closure which makes it easier to open than your standard compact. The product is molded into a dome shape which makes for easy swiping with a brush. The one drawback is that it does not come with a mirror so you can't just throw this in your bag and go. I have read a couple reviews and there is a call for an addition of a mirror so maybe MAC will heed the call and add this later on.

Pricing
This retails for $30USD online but in stores you may have to pay up to $4500JMD to get it in Jamaica. Amazon sells it for as low as $21USD so do some shopping around to get the best price for you. This is expensive but it is entirely worth it as you are getting more than your standard face powder, in a greater quantity and with excellent quality that MAC is known for. So, before you replace your current powder look into switching to this one

Application & Durability
This is by far the smoothest powder I have ever used. It completely surprised me. It blended into my skin flawlessly and effortlessly, shrunk my pores, got rid of shine without making my skin look dead, evened out my complexion and stayed put for hours on end. You can apply this with a powder brush as a finishing powder to set your makeup, you can use it to tone down blush, bronzer or any other colour you may have over-applied, or you can use this as a base for cream products to help with a more even application. My favourite way to wear this is to use a kabuki face brush to blend in the product all over the face as a sort of mineral foundation.
It stays put all day through sweat and dust but allows the skin to breathe. It does not get cakey and keeps shine at bay. Basically I am in love. Best of all though, it does not make my skin look ashy and it does not oxidize and get orange-y as the day goes by. This is a major plus in my book because sometimes even products made specifically for women of colour can come off looking ashy.

Results
This mimics the texture of naturally beautiful skin and gives a healthy glow. This is the best powder I have tried to date and I really have nothing bad to say about it. You can layer it on or you can give it a quick dust over any other product you're already wearing and you will love the result. I use the MSF Natural in Dark.

Have I convinced you yet? Yes? Good! Now run, run to the store and get yours now. Have you tried it? Do you love it as much as I do?

Till later,
**Jane

  1. I absolutely adore this product. It was recommended to me by the women and the makeup counter on account of my oily skin and I'm so glad she did. It never looked cakey and matched my skin perfectly. No orange at all which is big for me since I have such fair skin. I went to repurchase it and the women and a different Mac counter gave me the wrong powder! It was out of town so I didn't return it and I'm dealing with this one but I sure do miss this one.
